Volume of liquid for Year Two
Learning Outcomes
· To compare volumes of liquid using standard measurements.
Materials:
· Measuring beaker.
· Three water jug (different size).
· A large water jug.
· A set of three soft drink label (different capacity)
· Interactive activity slide show.
Procedures:
1. Have the students works in pairs.
2. Ask them to work in their cooperative groups.
3. Give each group a set of water jugs, a measuring beaker, a set of three soft drink label and a large water jug.
4. Have the students fill the large jug with water.
5. Have the students fill the measuring beaker up to a litre of water.
6. Then, pour a litre of water to the three containers (water jugs with different size).
7. Have the students discusses their findings.
8. Have the students to say out the different volumes from the set of soft drink label.
9. Allow them to give their opinion on the different volume of liquid from the label.
10. Finally, have the students in turn to do the interactive activity via power point slide show.

· To make a perceptual comparison of capacity.
Materials:
· Three similar size drinking glasses.
· A large water jug.
· Interactive activity slide show.
Procedures:
1. Divide the class into groups of four students.
2. Ask them to work in their cooperative groups.
3. Give each group a set of glasses and a large water jug.
4. Have the students fill the large jug with water.
5. Introduce the vocabulary of empty, half full and full.
6. Have the students fill the glasses to check their estimate.
7. Have students arrange the glasses in the order of empty to full and vise versa.
8. Have the students to keep a side the empty glass.
9. Ask them to compare which glass hold more water and which glass hold less water.
10. Have the students discusses on the two containers (glass and jug), which can hold more capacity of water.
11. Finally, have the students in turn to do the interactive activity via power point slide show.
